Sports-commentator LoRA — mixed data vs real data only

Every row is one prompt rendered five ways. Both training runs generated the same 16 held-out scenes with the same seeds, so the clips in a row are directly comparable — this is an A/B, not two separate demos. Take 0 of 2, unselected.
Dropping the synthetic English half made the adapter better. The real-only run was trained on the 468 real German Mediathek broadcast segments only. It beats the mixed run in 11 of 12 matched configurations, ties 1, loses none — paired Wilcoxon p = 0.0010 — and 7 of its 12 cells score a perfect 2.000/2 against the mixed run's best of 1.969.

The real-only adapter is German-trained and evaluated on English. WER is unchanged (0.066 vs 0.061, p = 0.13), so this is not accent fooling the judge — it is register transferring across the language boundary, and doing it better than synthetic English data did.
What it costs. Genuineness drops 0.761 → 0.610 and vocal-burst blend 1.030 → 0.702. The real-only adapters are louder and more performed. If you want a commentator who sounds like they are actually in the moment rather than projecting, the mixed adapters — or the base model — may still suit you better. Listen across a row and decide.
