Throat Resonance VoiceNet dimension guide

Resonance Placementcode vn_R_THRTslot 76
This dimension measures resonance originating from the throat / pharyngeal cavity. Below: the merge-scaling dose-response for the __high and __low LoRA (laion/moss-voicenet-dimension-loras) at 25/50/75/100/125%, the measured target value at each dose, the top-3 ± correlated EmoNet emotions and VoiceNet dimensions, three audio samples per dose, and a grounded prompting tip. Costs are shifts vs. the 24-sample neutral baseline in genuineness, vocal-burst blend and speech quality.

Throat Resonance controls resonance originating from the throat / pharyngeal cavity. The __high LoRA shifts it +0.56 at 125% (worst cost: burst-blend -0.40); the __low LoRA shifts it -0.12 at 75% (worst cost: burst-blend -0.15). The __high direction is the stronger, more reliable knob here.

Merging Throat Resonance __high raises the dimension: at the recommended 125% dose the measured Throat Resonance score moves from a 0.22 baseline to 0.78 (a +0.56 shift). The dose-response is clean and monotonic — each step pushes the dimension further. That reach is a steep cost — the biggest hit is to burst-blend (-0.40); across the board genuineness -0.09, burst-blend -0.40, speech quality +0.01. Emotionally it reads as Malevolence/Malice (r 0.52), Triumph (0.51) and Pride (0.45), and it moves away from Contentment, Relief and Affection. On other voice dimensions it co-moves most with Chest Resonance (0.88), Stance (0.87) and Authoritative Style (0.85), while pulling down Vulnerability, Casual Style and Disfluency. Practical call: merge __high at 100–125%; expect Malevolence/Malice and Chest Resonance to rise and burst-blend to fall. If you don’t want Malevolence/Malice bleeding in, offset it with a prompt cue toward Contentment to keep the throat resonance shift without the side-effect.

Merging Throat Resonance __low damps the dimension: at the recommended 75% dose the measured Throat Resonance score moves from a 0.22 baseline to 0.10 (a -0.12 shift). The dose-response is mostly ordered but noisy between doses. That reach is a real cost — the biggest hit is to burst-blend (-0.15); across the board genuineness +0.00, burst-blend -0.15, speech quality -0.15. Emotionally it reads as Malevolence/Malice (r 0.35), Intoxication/Altered States (0.31) and Bitterness (0.28), and it moves away from Contentment, Fatigue/Exhaustion and Embarrassment. On other voice dimensions it co-moves most with Stance (0.63), Chest Resonance (0.60) and Metallic Character (0.56), while pulling down Velocity Flux, Vulnerability and Playful Style. Practical call: merge __low at 50–100%; expect Malevolence/Malice and Stance to rise and burst-blend to fall. If you don’t want Malevolence/Malice bleeding in, offset it with a prompt cue toward Contentment to keep the throat resonance shift without the side-effect.
